Yes, the system setup can be done by one person,
however we advise that two people move the equipment into
position where possible. In order to make the packages as safe
as possible we have used passive, low voltage speakers. To get
the necessary volume and audio quality requires the use of an
amplifier in the AV centre, which adds to its weight. The screen
itself is approximately 30 kilos, uninflated, so again, it may
be necessary for two people to move the screen into position.
Once the equipment is in place it takes about 5 minutes to
inflate the screen and probably 10 minutes to lace it (included
Velcro loops are the quicker option). We also have a new screen
upgrade option with hooks and more advanced Spandex screen
material. The screen is quite easy to move once inflated. The
trick with attaching the screen is to half inflate the frame so
that it is standing on its feet and the sides bent at 45
degrees. You can then access the upper grommets for the Velcro
loops to attach the screen to the frame.
The AV centre is very quick to set up and you will find this
won’t take long at all once you have done it a few times.
Yes. The best method is a set top box (use the
component connection to get the benefit of High Definition
pictures as the projector is capable of handling it). You could
also use a VCR recorder with a tuner (although I doubt whether
this will have a component output). The component interconnect is
a cables with three separate plugs (red, green or blue). Again
these plug into the corresponding outputs of the set top box (or
VCR) and into the supplied component adaptor inputs. If you are
not using component you can always use the S Video or composite
input and outputs

Both these consoles (and most versions of them and
other makes of console) come supplied with their own proprietary
adapter cables. They usually “breakout” to left and right audio
(white and red) and composite video (yellow) plugs. The video
plug is connected to the corresponding yellow input on the
projector. The audio plugs are connected to the corresponding
white and red inputs of the 2TK IN section of the mixer in the
AV centre. This signal is controlled by the 2TK IN volume
control
All the plugs and cables for the standard cinema
system are included.
We have had more than 100 families in front of one
of the screens at one event. It probably depends on the
audience’s eyesight, but as mentioned on our website 150+ people
can easily view the screen.
For much larger audiences a two screen (or more)
array set-up can be employed with two projectors rear projecting
onto the screens from one AV centre. This means a large amount
of people can remain close to the screens but are spread over a
much wider area (see our “How” page for more info). If you use a
large single screen, even moderate wind gusts become a safety
issue and a much more powerful sound system is need to reach
people right at the back of the audience.
Very little can go wrong as the system is quite
simple. Globes in projectors sometimes fail but this very rarely
happens.
If it rains, the screen will be unaffected but, as
with any electrical devices, the AV equipment and cables must be
kept dry for obvious safety reasons. If this is not possible,
then all devices should be turned off and the electrical power
disconnected. It is always safety first in these situations.
Rather a little disappointment than a tragedy. If there is an
alternative venue (like a hall, etc) move the screen and
equipment inside. If this is not an option and you have hired an
outdoor cinema package and the event has to be cancelled and
rescheduled, Cinemalite will always try to help in whatever way
we can. Please see our Hire page for more details.
There are only two connections to the projector
(plus the electricity) so check these. The projector should auto
detect the input. If you are using a laptop you will have to set
the laptop to two monitor mode (usually Fn + F5) but you will
have to check the laptop manual.
Again the system is fairly simple. If the speakers
are plugged in correctly usually the mixing desk has been
tampered with. Check the settings (see the manual).
